View Full Version : Tina Live on XM Satellite Radio in mid-April
Tina will be featured on XM Satellite Radio's The Loft channel 50 on their program, From the Living Room To the Loft, an interview-and-performance show recorded at their studios. The hour-long show is always split with another artist, in this case, Section Quartet, so expect her segment to be roughly 20-30 minutes.
The airdates and times (Eastern) are:
Sun. 4/13 6PM
Tues. 4/15 11PM
Thurs. 4/17 3AM

Aghrr!!
It's first aired tomorrow isn't it? Sunday 13th April.
UPDATE: the Loft's basic show info page on the XM site had the schedule wrong. When her episode didn't air Sunday 4/13, I e-mailed The Loft's program director Mike Marrone and surprisingly got a reply Sunday night around 10 PM.
The correct info: each episode of From the Living Room To the Loft runs for two weeks, not for one, and because of that, the artist schedule listings are off. The episode with Tina will actually premiere on Sunday, 4/27 at 6 PM EST and repeats on Tuesday 4/29 at 11PM and Thursday 5/1 at 3 AM (which is actually Wednesday night at midnight for us here on the west coast). And then...the show repeats three more times the following Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday at the same times mentioned, for a total of six airings over that two-week period. Hope that makes sense! By the way, she is the 'opening act' so she will be in the first half-hour or so of the show.
While visiting the Loft's Living Room page, if you click on each artist's name, it is a link to their website. Unfortunately in Tina's case, it was bringing up tinadico.net instead of .com and so you get a 'bad address' message. I wrote back to Mike to let him know...

I'm surprised no one here so far has mentioned the rather bizarre editing screw-up on this show.
The show opens with an interview and then she performs "Room With a View" followed by "Count To Ten." Then she says, "I think I'm gonna play this song that I wrote in Paris...on tour once, when I first realized that this touring life is probably gonna have its price. It's called, 'Sacre Coeur'...have you been there? By the famous Sacre Coeur church in Paris?"
She starts strumming the guitar and says, "That's what this song's about." Except, the song she's playing isn't "Sacre Coeur;" it's "Cruel to the Sensitive Kind." So, the intro background to "Cruel..." is missing, and in its place, we illogically get the intro to "Sacre Coeur."
This is followed by "Break of Day" and then only after that, we finally hear "Sacre Coeur," and while she's playing the intro, says, "So you can imagine me sitting there, looking out over Paris...".
This a great show, and I hate to be harsh, but this is a really bone-headed mistake. Even if it was some staffer/intern who wasn't familiar with her music, she mentions the song by name. How much more assistance does one need?!
Since the show is repeating three more times (next Sunbday, Tuesday and Thursday) I'm written a note to both the Loft staff and the Living Room producers, gently suggesting they re-edit this show correctly. I doubt it'll happen, but if I get any response, I'll post the info here...
UPDATE: I received a reply back from XM Loft Program Director Mike Marrone, who said the show was edited by two people who work at the Living Room nightclub, not XM, and he stated: "we corrected the file yesterday, so the next airings will be ok." So, the repeats airing this coming Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday should be slightly different. I don't know if the missing backstory for "Cruel To the Sensitive Kind" has been retrieved from the master show recording and inserted, but I'm assuming at least the mis-positioned "Sacre Coeur" intro will be connected to the song. The intro was towards the beginning before "Cruel..." and the song was next-to-last, so I don't know how the track order might change..I guess we'll have to tune in Sunday and find out!

Well, I heard the Tina Living Room show on XM last night (Tuesday), waiting to hear the "fixed" version XM's program director told me had been done on the set and...it was exactly the same as last week: after "Count To Ten," she says the next song is "Sacre Coeur" and gives a little background on it...and instead we hear "Cruel To the Sensitive Kind." "Sacre Coeur" shows up two songs later with no pre-song intro. Unbelievable, although so is the bizarre fact that no one has ever managed to fix the screwed-up track order on the multiple reissues of Fuel year-after-year; I'm sensing an unfortunate theme here...
Needless to say—and probably pointless as well—I wrote another e-mail to the program director, asking him what happened to the fix, and also mentioning for the third time that when you click on Tina's name on the XM Living Room schedule page which is supposed to link you to each artist's website, it brings up the non-existent tinadico.net instead of .com...
Sighhhhhh...
