My new favourite male singer/songwriter is Patrick Wolf... As far as I know he's really famous in the UK. He plays many instruments and his third album "The Magic Position" was released two months ago. It's brilliant even though I prefer his second album Wind In The Wires. I'm going to see him tomorrow and I just can't wait.
Bluebells (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyFKf6a4xfQ)
Bluebells Live (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2SLy5N3hRI)
Wind In The Wires (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7ukDMnTfkE)
By the way, I'm still looking for someone who can get me his singles from HMV or Virgin because they were only released in the UK  :D .

It's a bit weird, that a voice can mean that much - personally i don't care much for James Blunt either. Or Thomas Dybdahl and Antony Hegarty (Antony and the Johnsons). Although they have some really nice and meaningful lyrics, tunes and whatever, I never can see past the fact that their voices make my spine rotate and shiver (which I don't particularly like). Obviously my oppinions are not shared with everyone since these guys seem to be making a decent living being musicians :o

Heres a few - going world rather than indie. try Rachid Taha (sings rock 'n rai - arabic plus rock - excellent musician). Nobody to beat salif keita - completely soulful. Manu Chao - enuff said. Fela Kuti - long songs but really rhythmic. Knut Reisrud - sweden? (Try 'I don't feel noways tired' for a 7 minute song that just builds emotion.) In England Richard Hawley - updated '50s crooner rock 'n roll. From America Seasick Steve who plays 3 string guitar. UK Jazz/rock/funk but breaking new ground - The (Neil Cowley) Trio. For oldies Peter Gabriel/John Martyn/Neil Young/Jimmy Cliff/Jah Wobble/Bugge Wesseltoft.

I am surprised no one reccommended this yet....
Chris Cornell His solo work is amazing. As well as his work with Audioslave and Soundgarden. His solo work is much more slower and has more feelings than his work with the bands. He is also great with an acoustic guitar live.

Love Soundgarden and Audioslave, but his solo album didn't really do much for me...it was way too long and just..felt like he was trying to hard? I dunno. I guess I like him better as a band member than a solo artist, or maybe I'm just more into how Kim Thayil and Tom Morello played around his vocals.

Here are three of my favorite performances:

So... On page 1 Rosendahl mentions John Mayer and after seeing him live on June 20th I can only say that this man rocks! Saw him in Copenhagen, DK with some fellow Tina-fans and for all of us the deal was that we had heard his radio hits and liked them + we had heard his albums a couple of times, but were not super fanatics.
The showroom was extremely hot and we were sweating bullets from minute one, but dammit... we wanted this experience! And boy did we get it. This guy - who recently has gotten his share of paparazzi fame due to a romance with Jennifer Aniston - can definitely play the guitar. Combine that with an uncanny ability to produce music which is blissfull on the ears and you have JM.
Waiting for the world to change, Bigger than my body, Gravity and Why Georgia were excellent together with his cover of the George Harrison-tune My sweet Lord were highlights together with John in general, who was extremely down to earth and even had time to write autographs during the show. He signed two guitars and even took time out to play on one of them which was my highlight of the night. It was just one of those moments where you are glad that you are there.
Should the future give me the opportunity to see Mayer again live then I will definitely take it and so should you! :)
