I know most of you post and search videos regularily on YouTube, but I thought I would start a thread for us to share and discuss some of our favorites.

I'll start by sharing this video of Head Shop that was recently posted, and I'm sure many of you have seen it. It gave me new appreciation for the song...

I never noticed before how often Tina looks like she's just been poked in her sides with a pin when she sings.

There's a nice video of Tina singing with Sia and Zero 7 on Youtube somewhere. Their dancing isn't great though!

The problem is that the video Mark posted, is a boot leg of a Tina-performance, and we don't allow that on this site.

The earlier video in this thread isn't a boot leg.

And welcome to the forum, Mark - sorry for the kinda rude welcome :)

It IS pretty cool, but mostly because of Tina - it's too boring for my taste - I'd rather have a camp fire video with Dennis, Janus, Karoline, Kristian, Martin and Tina playing their respective primitive instruments in the light of the firy night :) That sort of video could have been shot in the woods near Aarhus or Copenhagen instead of on location in an american desert.

Farguss
10-05-2007, 08:45 PM
Yeah, it could be cool in there, but i love this location.
I guess Tina'll have other videos to shoot in a Denmark forest! ^_-

Today i've found a new video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1IdyU1SCfs&sdig=1) on youtube. The song is a live one singed by Tina and Christmas related.

But i've got this question since a couple of week: Did She ever playied any Christmas songs?

That is probably the only answer..

Hey guys, I can inform you that Tina played the X-mas song "Cold, cold Christmas" at a christmas-show arranged by Danish radio's P4 - a program named "Café Hack". The show took place at the beginning of December (can't remember the exact date) in a Church (Christians Kirken) in Copenhagen. And appart from the Christmas song Tina also performed "Cruel to the Sensitive Kind".

The Christmas Concert (which also had performances from other Danish artists) was aired on the radio on December 16.

I could try to translate it for you? :)

Rebecca
04-09-2008, 12:15 AM
Ok, I've been trying to translate it. I hope you understand some of it - my english isn't perfect, but tell me if it dosen't make sense at all :)
It's a little messed up, but try... And tell me if you don't understand it - REALLY, I mean it - that could also help me getting better to speak english :D

“My name is Tina Dickow, I was born October 14th 1977, in Aarhus.”

“When I’ve been in Denmark then… I just feel like, you know – settle down, get some kids and a husband, live in a flat on Østerbro. And a brand new perambulator. ”

-And then she sings ”sacre coeur”, but you guys know that :D

The man says: In England, she’s a 30 year old woman, who has a flat near Portobello road. In Denmark is she Tina Dickow, reviewer-praised songwriter. That diffrence has been a motive power to her… And he talks about what that would’ve ended up with (can’t really translate it directly.) And he says that Denmark just do something to her.

“When I’m back in Denmark, it just hits me – this peace that gets over me, I think. Also because there’s a little more focus on me in Denmark, I get a little more (self-)conceited, by knowing that people know me. But in the same time it just that… Everything is just in another tempo (is that the right word?) And I don’t think I’ve ever thought about that before, ‘cause vi talk a lot about that we are stressed here at home, and I just don’t think that we are in the same way that people are here in England. It just completely exorbitant over here, to go from work at 3 a Friday afternoon.”

And then the little movie-clip from “P3 guld”:
“Thank you very, very, very much!!! And special thanks to my fantastic family.”

“Here in England you (talk? I don’t really know a translation for the word she’s using) with the cashier. She says “Hi, how are you? Do you have a good day?” and then you say “yes, how are you?” and so on. And I didn’t say anything when I first got here, I wasn’t used to that, that you talked with each other one that way. Or said “thank you” when someone held the door, or ”sorry” when you someone bummed into you. But that’s how you do here, in England. Very highly. And I think that it’s great, and it feels so strange, when I’m back in Denmark… I can get like… so surprised(not the right translation, but…) that we aren’t more polite yet. ‘Cause we would probably, a little cynical argue for that is was all false(not the right translation either), and…arrh… cliché to stand there and say “how are you?”, also ‘cause, of course you don’t say “I feel terrible” even though you DO feel terrible. But I really don’t think it’s false(?). It’s… I don’t know, it just.. Gives this… good will. ”

Then the man shows a video from Denmark where a politician says that he think that headscarf is a symbol that could be compared to swastika.

And Tina says… Hmm… I don’t know how to translate “Hold da op” But it means something like “oh my god” – or something like that.

“There’s a big fear for different things, for something that don’t look like something they’re used to (and that is NOT the right translation either) Here in England it doesn’t matter if you’re different. It doesn’t matter if it’s with headscarf’s, turban or whatever. That thing with Denmark, being one of the happiest countries, there was a lot of English papers who wrote something like “It’s just because they don’t expect something from the existence. They are to easy to get satisfied.””

The man asks ”Do you recognize Danes, here in England?” And she answers:
“Hm… No, but I’ll still say that it’s odd, how little you need… Or, you know – even though you can’t hear what it is people are saying, you can’t hear any words, you can really only hear a “Heaa?” and then you can sense that it’s a Dane…

The man shows a football-match where Denmark scores to 1-0, and ask Tina if she knows that player, and she says:
“Who? Him? Isn’t it Simonsen?” and he says “correct”

“Yeah, Denmark against England. And that’s probably very characteristic, then we have hooligans up against quiet-gans (I don’t know a word for that, so I just made one up) There’s not any mess/piss with the Danes. For us it’s just about getting out, and having a good time with watching some football.”

“I Think that with Danes… When you first are in, you ARE in and there’s a depth, that you probably don’t see in the countries where it’s just… so easy to get in, and where you already the first night gets invited to all these things, and “you’re my best friend” and so on, then you might not get any further than that. I really think that it’s seems very… healthy when you first are in!”

The man plays this old song for her and she says:

“This is more something that reminds me of… sand hills, for some reason. Like old movies with sand hills, and people who walks around in old swimsuit, and women with bathing cap”

And he plays a song called “Kvinde min” by “gasolin’”

“… It couldn’t get more Danish! I’ve got so much respect for Kim Larsen (the lead singer in gasolin’)… Yeah, Kim Larsen, and Kvinde min, I don’t think that it gets bigger and more Danish…”

And she says that she IS going back to Denmark. “I’m just not ready yet. ‘Cause I think It’ll be… somehow it would just feel like taking leave of my youth… “(And then she giggles.)

You're welcome. And yes, I did spent some time on it, well... An hour maybe? But I love to talk/write english and practice, so I really mean it when I say that I would be happy to translate some other interviews for all you guys - if I can :) But you seem to understand me - and thank you, it's nice to hear that you think my english is good THANK YOU :-)

Yeah, that's it! :D I just didn't know if it was spelled the same way as the danish way - but it is :-)

Yeah, that's it! :D I just didn't know if it was spelled the same way as the danish way - but it is :-)

It's the same. Tempi is plural for tempo - both in Danish and English. Actually, I think Tempo is either Greek or Latin. :)

You're absolutely right. The particular sentence that Rebecca translated, combined with maybe the emphasis that Tina might have intended the word to be strong, then tempi would make sense - double tempo!!! :)
So apoligies Rebecca. I was just going from tempo being a more used word here in England for me. But obviously I can't speak for everyone in England. :)

Tempi or tempo apart though, I can't believe it only took about an hour to translate all that? When I come over to Denmark to see Tina, you'll have to learn me some Danish! :D

"Quiet-gans"! Fantastic word! Which, in a sense is pure english as we do like to make up words if we can't think of one that fits. I shall be using that one :)

I think the translation "calmigans" would be better, as we are certainly not quiet - we sing a lot. The word we use is "roligan", which comes from the word "rolig" = "calm". And it characterizes a non-violent supporter as opposed to a hooligan.

Well, yeah - you're right on that one :) but quiet-gans is still a quite fun word - but no... We're not very quiet... (åhh låå låå - yeah, nice and danish!! :D I like the "å's")
