Hi guys, the last saturday i was witching Tv. and what bad surprise was find a concert of an artist called "Ricardo Montaner" , yeah, he catch me, but imagine that, he was playing with playback!!! :(
He is not a bad or a "plastic" artist, but i don't understand why makes a concert, if you're not going to sing?, can you imagine that, i think that is a waste of time from the audience, and what disloyalty from his part!
Yeah, all was beatiful, candles, palms, and all that... and  he was not singing!

So i spent all the night thinking about this kind of artis...

What do you think about it?

I agree Carichu! Annoys me when artists do these things. It's just cheating on the audience and shows lack of character if it's them who are choosing to not sing live.

but sometimes we must be happy and grateful that they sing playback :D
like this example:

that was her first LIVE show and her last LOL
cos after that no one wanted to hear her singing live again, so everyone's fine with Playback :D

I don't think anyone in the States does this anymore, but a lot of European TV shows are still lip-synced. Even a "musicians band" like Toto was still forced to lip-sync when they made a few German TV appearances last year. Obviously a band like that, there's no reason for it, but it's just the way the TV shows do things.

I'd guess most of the major "pop star" performances on TV or award shows in the last 10 years have been lip synced. Why risk a bad performance on national TV when no one will notice the difference anyway?

Great performance:D .... but seriously why become a singer if you can't sing at all???

I don't like it when artists lipsync, but at tv shows I don't really mind although I prefer it when they really sing.

But when you lipsync at a concert, then it's just sad and you should be ashamed... people pay money to see a musician sing, not lipsync.

Hey... Milli Vanilli ROCKED!:D

Sometimes the shows producers don't actually want the artists to perform live, as they would need to setup the sound and broadcast to a live music quality... so they often dictate that they have to sing against a backing track.

Ok, I'm boring myself now....:o

:D I remember watching the Ashlee Simpson lip sync debacle on Saturday Night Live here in the U.S. That was simply hilarious!

This was indeed brilliant!

And I also liked Milli Vanilli, the story itself is already fantastic :-)

In the Netherlands we also had quite a riot concerning T-Spoon. They hired a small model-like chick to sing in the video, but in the studio it was a big-boned ;-) woman..... In the end she got to sing the second song, so she still got the credit she deserved.

But hey, not everybody has a Dickowish voice :-D
