Not sure if those outside Denmark have ever heard of this, but the SPOT Festival which runs over 2 days in the town of Aarhus in Denmark is on again on 2nd and 3rd June 2006.

It a "showcase" festival (kind of like the Danish version of SXSW... only NOTHING is that big!) for Danish and Nordic bands looking for international connections. Alongside the barely/locally knowns, they always throw in a few big names for the occaision (TD played last year).

I've been twice now, and LOVE it. Its very relaxed and the stages are all inside small cool venues dotted around town. The atmosphere is chilled, and if you check out a band and don't like them, no-one bats an eye if you leave (just wait for between the songs).

Aarhus is also a great town. On the seafront, great cafes and bars.

And theres no mud.

Some of the venues are pretty plush and arty. Think there would be trouble if you turned up in muddy wellie boots.... some crud on your Campers maybe ok though :o

Chran, are you going? (since you live in Arhus) Yes, I'm pretty sure I am. It's 15 minute's walk from where I live  So I'd be a dumbass not to :D

I'll definately be going along this year...... am hoping that some larger names will be announced as time goes on. Not sure Tina will be appearing though - she seems to have the international market pretty well organised at the moment.

I see that both VETO and Diefenbach are playing spots... two rising bands in Scandi.

If anyones thinking of going, I'd also recommend the lectures which take place before and during the music on the Friday.. There are lectures and discussion forums about music related issues - the last couple of years they have been on topics like Future of Downloading; Publishing; Music structure; Strategy etc.
Really interesting, and they have some REALLY top names as panellists.

Its VERY interesting and not all muso stuff.... but gives a great background to whats gone on behind your latest cd purchase.
